The fortified town

Castellina

It is certainly worth stopping in Castellina to visit its stone streets and the quaint old town and the ancient walls, under which an impressive underground tunnel runs known as Via delle Volte.

The origins of the picturesque village date back to the Etruscan era. There are many visible remains which can be visited both at the excavations of the archaeological sites, very well marked, and at the Archaeological Museum in the historic center.

In addition to hosting a wide selection of wine bars and cellars, Castellina and Via delle Volte offer a wide range of artisan shops, workshops and art laboratories, as well as those where you can buy typical products.
